We want to publicly thank everyone that donated during the Disneyland giveaway.
We raised $585 in total and gave away 4 1-day Park Hopper passes to Disneyland in California.
Thank you again for helping us “Change a life with every flight!”
I have had a few people ask if I was serious or not when I set a goal of $500 for a fundraising drive. The short answer is, of course!
The longer and more thorough answer always follows and it boils down to doing what we can with what we have. Would we like to receive $5,000 or $50,000 every time we run a fundraiser? Sure!
Could we help more animals and people with more money? Of course we could but what we are doing is breaking up our needs and requests in to smaller and more attainable sized chunks.
So, with all of that being said, what does $500 do?
6 Veterans can attend appointments at the Seattle VA from places like Port Angeles and Moses Lake without sitting through the 6 hour round trip drive.
20 or more animals can be transported from central Oregon to rescues in Washington.
1 Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine that needs to go home on emergency leave will have a ticket to anywhere in the USA.
$500 will also cover the required overnight stay for a volunteer pilot on our longest trip between Los Angels and Seattle. While the volunteer pilots pay their entire flight expense we try to cover the hotel costs, a nominal fee for food, landing fees, airplane tie-down and parking fees, etc.
While $500 might not seem like a lot to some, $500 can mean the world to the people and animals that we help.

Today was an exciting day for me. After a long day at work I checked the mail and what should I find but 4 Park Hopper tickets from Disneyland! The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. While I didn’t expect them for at least 2 weeks, I couldn’t help but wonder how people would feel about entering a contest to win a prize that they couldn’t see with their own eyes.
Sure, there are people that would put their faith in us to deliver the goods that we promised but I was beginning to worry about stretching the limits of trust that our supporters have in us.
I also worried about what would happen if the tickets were lost in the mail or didn’t make it by our requested date….
Disney had very specific answers and procedures to follow so I wasn’t too worried about being able to produce the promised prize on time but you never know.
Well, we don’t need to worry anymore as Disney has delivered as promised so we can begin our contest on 1 Feb 2017 as scheduled.
Starting on 1 Feb 2017 we will be tracking donations and registering entries based on the donation amount. More information and details will be provided on the 1st so stay tuned!

We all have concerns about how our money is being spent by the organizations that we contribute to. After all, it is our hard earned money and we want to makes sure that our donations are being used in a manner that is consistent with our beliefs, interests and desires. The act of determining who is spending your money in an appropriate way isn’t as simple as comparing the management costs vs the program costs and donating to the one with a higher percentage going to the programs and less to payroll and various other activities.
Below you will find some guidance from three of the major resources in the nonprofit world in regards to how a donor should look at the overhead an organization might be dealing with. Please, read on with an open mind and then look at our GuideStar profile and consider a small donation.
Today is the anniversary of this young man’s death. He was a flyer with both American and British citizenship that went to fight for his mother’s home country. He was killed in a simple accident but not before composing a beautiful piece of poetry that is loved by aviators everywhere.
“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air….
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
– Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”
